Basically, it is a human powered machine, bicycle has been my favorite while I grew up. Later, exercise was a reason to have a bike. Thanks to present day techno advancements and diverse innovations that electric powered bicycles have started coming. Bicks now may not be serving purpose of exercise but they are going to be a handy transport solutions in modern urban society. Gocycle (very aptly named) is case in point here.

Designed by Richard Thorpe, the Gocycle is lightweight and collapsible design. The front wheel hub houses a small electric motor. At the push of a button on the left handlebar, the bike gets a turbo boost from the motor, enabling riders to coast up hills where they may normally struggle. The motor can power the bike unaided for around 20 minutes.

Gocycle functions as a normal pedal powered bike but can switch to instant electric power. Its frame and wheels are injection-moulded in light-weight magnesium alloy in a process called Thixomoulding - a type of injection moulding for metal, which is more durable than plastic and commonly used to create magnesium casings of products such as laptops, digital cameras and mobile phones. This delivers the smooth, seamless look and performance of carbon fiber, but at one-tenth of the cost and allows the Gocycle to be produced at a much cheaper price than comparable carbon fiber bikes according to Thorpe.

The Best Innovation award winner at the Taipei International Cycle Show 2008 ’08, Gocycle is being seen as revolutionary in bick industry as well as in urban society.
